hi cameraguy,

i have a Chinon ['IQ' Universal 8 [8811], which is a recommended make, I was very pleased to discover.

the film focus-jump would not be a major problem because it can be instantly corrected by manual focus - i tranfer my films to dvd/vhs when they are complete, so it would be a matter of catching the moment as it arises, and compensating the focus - only once or twice (hopefully).

the actual film 'jumping' is a far greater concern, hence my interest in bevelled splicing; many thanks for making me aware of these snags before i encounter them - always better to be forewarned!

:-)
